I come to Lucca every summer for a month for work, so I've eaten all over the city. Pizza here is not the greatest....Tuscan pizza tends to lean towards cardboard crust and bad toppings. However, if you're willing to go outside the city walls a few blocks, you'll be rewarded with an excellent pizza. Dal Ciaccia can be tricky to find at first, it's out the south gate tucked on a residential street behind the train station. Very few tables to sit, they cater more to the local denizens ordering takeout. The crust is excellent and the toppings are fantastic and generous. Service is prompt and polite, and they also have beer and water in bottles. They also have the ceci crust and stuffed pizze.

This is the real deal! Not Napolitan pizza, this is completely different - Lucchese style pizza. Thin, yet crispy generously topped as you choose. You also have the option to have a stuffed version. Order by the slice or by the pie. Not a lot of dining space, but takeout is always an option and its just a short walk to the famous Lucca walls which are perfect for picnicking. Not only is this the best authentic Lucchese pizza in town, it is the most affordable. We had two small pizzas, a large beer, and a small water for just 16.50E! The staff is also very friendly and helpful. Compliment!
